Preparation: 20 minutes
Cooking: 20 minutes
Total: 40 minutes

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 1 package (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup warm water
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1 cup milk, warmed
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 3-4 cups all-purpose flour
  • Melted butter, for brushing

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.

  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine sugar, melted butter, warm milk, and salt. Stir until well combined.

  3. Add yeast mixture to the mixing bowl and stir.

  4. Gradually add flour, one cup at a time, mixing well after each addition, until the dough becomes soft and slightly sticky.

  5. Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  6. Place the dough in a greased bowl and cover with a clean kitchen towel. Let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

  7. Punch down the dough and turn it out onto a lightly floured surface. Shape the dough into rolls of desired size.

  8. Place the rolls onto a greased baking sheet, spacing them apart. Cover with a kitchen towel and let them rise for another 30 minutes.

  9. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

  10. Brush the risen rolls with melted butter.

  11. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through.

  12. Remove from the oven and brush with more melted butter, if desired.

  13. Allow the rolls to cool slightly before serving.
