How To Make Sausage & Mushroom Ragu

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 1 lb Italian sausage, casings removed
  • 8 oz mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (14 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 1 can (8 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp dried thyme
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh parsley, for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, brown the sausage over medium heat, breaking it into crumbles. Remove sausage from skillet and set aside.

  2. In the same skillet, add the mushrooms, onion, and garlic. Cook until the mushrooms have softened and the onion is translucent.

  3. Add the sausage back into the skillet and stir in the diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, oregano, thyme, salt, and pepper.

  4. Simmer for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the flavors have melded together.

  5. Serve over cooked pasta or rice, and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and parsley.
