I used to dream of six pack abs and washboard stomachs… Now I dream about cookies and ice cream. While I’m no longer looking to achieve a six pack (a six pack of Redd’s Apple Ale, maybe), I would love to tone up and tighten my muffin.
Since blogging, my muffin has gone a bit rogue. It’s no longer looking slim and trim in my skinny jeans. It looks like, well, it looks like a muffin that decided to sink and ooze over the edge of the bakery liners–not a pretty site, my friends.
Toning the tummy takes a bit more effort than, say, toning your arms or legs. Things tend to settle in that general area, so it takes a bit more effort to tone. Eating healthier can make a world of difference.
The key to a tight middle is the combination of exercise and healthy eating. Fitness Magazine states that an ab-friendly diet includes fiber to decrease bloating, antioxidants to boost exercise effectiveness, and protein to maintain a healthy metabolism.
Some ab-friendly foods include:
- Leafy greens
- Whole grains
- Lean protein- fish and chicken
- Low-fat dairy/cheese
- Olive oil
Keeping your fridge and cabinets stocked with these items will make it easier to stay on track.
This week’s routine is Fit Foodie: Abs. All you’ll need is a yoga mat and some music.
After three sets, you’re abs will be screaming. I like to do this routine 3-4 times a week. Have fun and let me know how you like it.
