Method
Prepare your glass by running a lime wedge around the rim. Dip the wet rim into a small plate of Tajín or coarse salt until well-coated.
In a cocktail shaker, combine the tequila, pineapple juice, Cointreau, fresh lime juice, and agave nectar.
Fill the shaker halfway with ice cubes and shake vigorously for about 15-20 seconds until the outside of the shaker feels very cold.
Fill your prepared glass with fresh ice and strain the margarita into it.
Garnish with a fresh pineapple wedge or a slice of lime and serve immediately.
Notes
Use high-quality 100% blue agave tequila for the smoothest flavor.
If you don't have Tajín, a mix of sea salt and a pinch of chili powder works beautifully.
For a smoky twist, swap the tequila for mezcal.
Freshly squeezed lime juice is a non-negotiable for that bright, zesty pop.
