Method

  1. Begin by infusing your vodka. Combine the candy corn and the vodka in a clean glass jar. Let it sit at room temperature for at least 3-4 hours, or until the candy has completely dissolved and the liquid is a bright orange.

  2. Strain the infused vodka through a fine-mesh sieve or a coffee filter to remove any waxy residue from the candies. Set aside.

  3. For each cocktail, add 2 ounces of the candy corn vodka, 1 ounce of pineapple juice, and 0.25 ounces of simple syrup into a cocktail shaker filled with ice.

  4. Shake vigorously for about 15-20 seconds until the outside of the shaker is frosty and very cold.

  5. Strain the mixture into a chilled martini glass.

  6. To get that signature tri-color look, slowly pour 0.5 ounces of heavy cream over the back of a spoon onto the surface of the drink so it floats slightly on top.

  7. Garnish with a few whole candy corn pieces or a rim of orange sugar if you're feeling fancy.

Notes

If you're in a hurry, you can gently warm the vodka and candy corn in a saucepan over very low heat to speed up the melting, but don't let it boil.

Store any leftover candy corn vodka in the freezer; it stays perfectly slushy and ready for your next drink.

For a cleaner pour, use a cocktail jigger to ensure your layers don't mix too quickly.

Use a high-quality vodka for this; since the candy corn is so sweet, a cheap vodka will make the finish feel a bit harsh.

Questions

Can I make this dairy-free?
Absolutely! You can swap the heavy cream for full-fat coconut milk or a thick oat milk creamer to achieve the same visual effect.
How long does the infused vodka last?
The candy corn infused vodka will keep for up to 6 months if stored in a cool, dark place or the refrigerator.
Is the drink very sweet?
The pineapple juice provides a necessary hit of acidity that balances the sugar of the candy, making it surprisingly drinkable.
What if I don't have a cocktail shaker?
You can use a mason jar with a tight-fitting lid to shake the ingredients, then use the lid to strain as you pour.
